As Kuwait’s Premier Early Years Centre, it is no surprise that the team want to ensure that they are always up to date with the most relevant innovations and curriculum advances. Volunteers, teachers, teaching assistants and administration staff all attended a course on Support Work in Schools led by Derek Hicks.

The Course

The course is run as a series of weekly workshops, during which the learning outcomes are introduced, followed by a number of interactive activities. The learners are then given tasks to complete, leading to assessment. The qualification is subject to rigorous quality assurance set by City & Guilds, the UK’s foremost Awarding Body. The Award in Support Work in Schools is used by most local authorities in the United Kingdom as an induction and route into employment within schools. City & Guilds is the premier vocational education provider for work-related qualifications. 

Moreover, this is only the beginning for many of the ladies on the course.Now that they have gained qualifications at the required level, as teachers and support teachers at TSK, many will advance to the next stage. Dedication, perseverance and a strong love of learning ensures that the teaching team at TSK stays one step ahead of the rest.

First Aid & Caring For Your Child

The Sunshine Kindergarten teams are aware that, when working with small children, anything can happen. For this reason we decided that each team in TSK needed to have at least two people who were trained to deal with medical emergencies. We made this a Continuous Professional development (CPD) matter and several ladies headed off to the Al Salam Hospital to take part in their Heartsaver, First Aid with CPR and AED training course. 

Now at TSK and its sister school BSK, as well as having fully qualified nurses in each clinic, there are also numerous First Aiders throughout the campus ready and able to take control should the need arise.
